The SK Post, an innovation project launched in 2001, aims to develop the children’s reading, writing, communication and teamwork skills in meaningful contexts.
The children get to communicate with friends from different levels, teachers and admin staff, with simple letters, greeting messages and pictures.
The children are involved in the running of the “Post Office”, from collecting, sorting to delivery of mails. They also get to experience job applications and interviews for the various roles, with teachers discussing with them “job requirements” and conducting “on-the-job training.” In this way, SK Post gives children an early appreciation and understanding of the work life of their parents.
SK Post provides a wonderful platform for the children to engage in dramatic play and at the same time, learn about the workings of an actual post office. They also learn to work together in a team.
