Project Approach

Fire-Engine Project
We believe that children are active learners. They learn best when they take ownership of their learning. Thus, projects provide the opportunities for children to be directly involved; from the choice of project topic to the direction of the project and finally to the choice of concluding activity of the project.

Each term, the children get to do 2 projects (English and Chinese). The project consists of three phases and generally last for ten weeks.

Phase 1: Getting started – choosing the topic for investigation, discussing what is known, make a list of questions about the topic

Phase 2: Investigation – look for answers to the questions, collect new information, engage in exploratory activities and discuss findings

Phase 3: Concluding the project – compare what they knew before and what they have found out, create displays to share the findings/story of the project, decide on concluding activity.
